Paris Motor Show 2026 EVs: What Was Revealed on Press Day

The Paris Motor Show 2026 EVs are now out in the open, after a Monday press day at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles that brought a new BYD flagship, European pricing for the XPENG G9L, the return of the two-seat smart and a Renault concept that rethinks the Espace. The public days run from October 13 to 18. Here is what each maker actually announced on October 12, taken from their own releases.

BYD Atto 8: a seven-seat flagship with Flash Charging

BYD used its Hall 6 press conference to reveal the Atto 8, a seven-seat electric SUV that becomes the top of its European range. It is 5,040 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,760 mm tall, and it is the first BYD in Europe with the second-generation Blade battery, a 115 kWh pack in both versions.

That battery brings Flash Charging to Europe. BYD says the Atto 8 charges from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes, and that 20 to 97 percent takes 12 minutes even at -30°C. The company plans 3,000 Flash Charging stations in Europe by the end of 2027.

The Design RWD has a 340 kW (462 PS) rear motor, runs 0 to 100 km/h in 8.0 seconds and is rated at up to 653 km WLTP. The Excellence AWD adds a front motor for 570 kW (775 PS) and 775 Nm, reaches 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and is rated at up to 602 km. Inside there are heated, ventilated and massaging seats in the first two rows, a 15.6-inch center screen and a 136-litre frunk. Dealer sales in Europe start in the first quarter of 2027. BYD has not announced a price.

The Dolphin Surf also made its public debut as a five-seater, with a new 12.8-inch screen on the Comfort trim. BYD’s other new arrival, the Shark pickup, is a plug-in hybrid.

XPENG G9L: European orders open from €74,990

XPENG gave the G9L its global launch in Paris, and XPENG said in a release that it starts from €74,990 in France. The large SUV comes with six or seven seats, and XPENG says the electric versions reach up to 591 km WLTP. Its 800V architecture and 5C charging take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 11.7 minutes.

The G9L has nine airbags as standard and automatic emergency braking that works at up to 150 km/h. XPENG says it went through three years of testing in 26 countries and regions, covering more than 6.74 million km. After its production trial at Magna in Graz, it will be the fourth XPENG built in Europe. On the stand, XPENG also put its NGP driver assistance (powered by VLA 2.0) into public test rides. It is one of only two carmakers in the show’s Autonomous Lab, alongside Tesla.

smart #2: the two-seater is back, from €19,990

Thirty years after smart first showed its two-seat idea in Paris, the production smart #2 had its world premiere there. It is 2,746 mm long, drives the rear wheels and turns in 6.95 metres curb to curb. smart says it is the first in its class with a five-link rear suspension. It is styled by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design team and built on the new Electric Compact Architecture, with the Tridion Cell Evo safety structure.

The range target is up to 290 km WLTP, with 65 kW DC fast charging, 11 kW AC charging and vehicle-to-load. Binding orders open across Europe on October 13, starting at €19,990 in several countries including Germany, France and Italy. Full market availability follows in 2027.

Renault E-Space Concept

Renault’s world premiere was the E-Space Concept, an electric MPV that it calls the modern successor to the 1984 Espace. It is 4.70 m long, 2.02 m wide and 1.67 m tall, on 23-inch wheels pushed to the corners. Double rear-hinged doors with no center pillar open onto six identical seats on a flat floor. The two middle seats swivel 180 degrees to face the third row, and the cabin is built around natural light from a glass roof and low windows.

The steering is steer-by-wire, and a 1,130 by 110 mm OpenR Panorama screen spans the cabin in place of a dashboard. That screen is the part heading to showrooms: Renault says the next-generation Rafale and Scenic will be the first to get it. The concept itself is a design study. Renault says it is not intended to preview a production model and will not replace the current Espace.

Hyundai STARIA Cargo

Hyundai’s electric news in Paris was the STARIA Cargo, its fully electric light commercial vehicle, shown alongside the new Bayon and Tucson SUVs and the Europe-built Ioniq 3. The van uses a 160 kW (218 PS) motor, an 84 kWh battery and an 800-volt system. Hyundai rates it at up to 450 km WLTP, with 10 to 80 percent charging in 20 minutes, a 1,040 kg payload, 2,000 kg of braked towing and room for three Euro pallets.

Skoda Epiq Sportline

Skoda launched the Epiq Sportline, the best-equipped version of its smallest and most affordable electric SUV. It adds gloss-black trim, 19-inch black wheels (20-inch optional), Matrix LED headlights, the illuminated Light Band grille and electrically adjustable sports seats. It comes as the Epiq 40 and the Epiq 55, and the 55 makes 155 kW, runs 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and goes up to 440 km on a charge. It sits on Skoda’s Hall 4 stand beside the Peaq flagship, and Skoda says the two models have more than 70,000 combined orders.

Visitors can see all of them through Sunday, October 18. The two cars to watch from here are the Atto 8, once BYD sets its price, and the smart #2, which takes its first binding orders this week.
