Hardware
Sensors now
11 cameras + 5 radars · multi-modal perception · no LiDAR on early R2s Available
Compute now
Launch R2s ship with current-gen Autonomy+ hardware (OTA-upgradable features on that stack). Not Gen 3 RAP1 at first deliveries. Available
RAP1 / Gen 3
Rivian Autonomy Processor (RAP1) custom silicon · Gen 3 Autonomy Computer with dual RAP1 · ~1,600 sparse INT8 TOPS · ~5B pixels/sec · built for camera + radar + LiDAR inference Later
Gen 3 timing
Rivian: Gen 3 (ACM3) + LiDAR in validation · expected to ship on R2 models starting late 2026 (not day-one early builds) Later

Cabin camera
Interior-facing camera in the rearview mirror (color / RGB on R2). Used for driver monitoring and optional cabin features when you enable them.
Privacy default
Interior camera is off by default (opt-in). Cabin image sharing for product improvement is under Settings → Data and Privacy. Per Rivian: those interior images are only captured when you have opted in and the vehicle is in Drive.
Pet Cam
Remote pet monitoring via cabin camera. Rivian: extra controls so it activates when a pet is detected, not as a general people-spying feature. Coming / rolling out
Gear Guard
Exterior camera security / motion recording is separate from the cabin camera. Configure recording and data sharing independently in vehicle settings. Live Cam remote stream capped at 1 hr/day (Connect+).
