NIO Inc. delivered 37,408 vehicles in September 2026, up 7.7% from a year earlier. The company put the month out on October 1, then followed it with a quarterly total: 109,178 vehicles in the three months ended September, up 25.4%.
The September count splits across three brands, and the mix is the useful part. On NIO’s newsroom post, 21,318 of the month came from the NIO brand, up 55.3% year over year. ONVO, the family brand, delivered 8,763. firefly, the small high-end car, delivered 7,327, up 26.9%. Those three lines add up to the 37,408. NIO does not print a year-over-year rate for ONVO’s September.
The quarter is in the company release filed with the SEC, not in the shorter newsroom item. That release states the 109,178 third-quarter deliveries and the 25.4% increase. It repeats the September brand counts without the brand growth rates. It does not break the quarter itself into NIO, ONVO, and firefly. Anyone adding September’s brand rows and calling that the quarter would be wrong. July and August are not in the brand table.
Nine months, and the two SUVs NIO wants noticed
Through the first three quarters, NIO Inc. delivered 300,301 vehicles, up 49.2% year over year. The newsroom post says all three brands set records for that period. The NIO brand delivered 181,988, up 63.4%. ONVO delivered 70,191. firefly delivered 48,122, up 136.7%. Those brand lines sum to the company total. Cumulative deliveries stood at 1,297,893 as of September 30, 2026. Both the newsroom post and the SEC exhibit carry that cumulative figure.
NIO used the same October 1 release to mark two SUVs that are not the whole company, but that it presents as the top of the NIO brand. On September 20, the first anniversary of the All-New ES8 launch, NIO says that model reached its 150,000th delivery. NIO says the ES8 ranked first in cumulative sales among large SUVs and among vehicles priced above RMB 400,000 during that first year. On September 23, NIO says the ES9 reached its 30,000th delivery since deliveries began on May 28, 2026, and that it ranked first in monthly sales among battery-electric vehicles priced above RMB 500,000 for three months running.
Those rankings are NIO’s statement in its own release. The release does not attach an outside industry table. What it does say is that the ES8 and ES9 performance, in NIO’s view, sits on flagship products plus “full-cycle service offerings and charging and battery-swapping infrastructure.”
The company describes the three brands in one sentence that matches the delivery split. NIO is the premium smart EV brand. ONVO is the family brand. firefly is the high-end compact. September shows the premium brand still the largest slice, at 21,318 of 37,408, with ONVO and firefly together a bit under half the month.
NIO did not give a production figure, a margin, or a delivery guide for the fourth quarter in this update. The document is a delivery count and two model milestones.
The same week brought other makers’ third-quarter counts. Tesla’s is the one we already walked through, figure by figure, in the Q3 delivery report.
