Tesla’s Q2 California Registrations Up 7.4% over Q1

Q2 registrations of Tesla vehicles in Cali are up 7.4% to 52,211 from 48,342 in Q1.1

Worldwide in Q2 2024 Tesla delivered 443,9562 vehicles, 12.8% up from 386,8103 in Q1 2024, indicating Tesla sales are accelerating upwards again after slowing slightly in Q1.

Tesla’s Q2 2024 did underperform Q2 2023, at a 4.7% reduction from 466,1404. In California the year over year drop from Q2 2023 was even more significant at 24.1% from 68,827 in Q2 2023 to 52,211 in Q2 2024.

Perhaps the lack of a $35,000 Tesla was part of the cause of the YoY Q2 decline in California? Good news, as of Thursday, July 11, 2024 they have re-introduced the $35,000 Tesla, this time coming in the form of the Long Range RWD Model 3 with 363 miles of range. As of this writing it is $42,490 and it is eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit here in the United States meaning you can get an upgraded “Highland” Model 3 with air conditioned seats, new suspension for $34,990 (or less with state incentives). This should significantly increase the customer base who can afford a new Tesla.
